The temptation to buy D2R Runewords can arise when players want to assemble an optimized build quickly. Yet the game's design remains compelling because the process of gradually discovering what a character needs is itself an important part of the experience.

The best builds are often not immediately obvious. Players experiment, fail, respec, discover new equipment, and gradually refine their understanding. A skill that appeared weak at first can become excellent when paired with the right item. A seemingly minor stat can become extremely valuable under specific circumstances.

This creates an unusually strong connection between knowledge and progression. The character becomes stronger because the equipment improves, but also because the player becomes more knowledgeable.
