From the Runway to the West End: How Distance Shapes a Heathrow Airport Taxi Fare
Heathrow sits roughly 15 miles west of central London, and that distance is the starting point for almost every taxi price you will see. Transport for London (TfL) estimates a metered black cab between Heathrow and central London at £61 to £114, with a typical journey of 30 to 60 minutes. Pre-booked private-hire operators set their own fixed prices, which can fall either side of that range.
The range is wide because "central London" is not one place. A hotel near Paddington and an office in Canary Wharf are both central, yet one is a much longer drive from the airport. This guide explains how far Heathrow really is from different parts of London, how distance and time combine on a meter, and how to turn your exact address into an accurate quote.
