Infertility has become the most common problem in women these days

Infertility has become the most common problem in women these days that could be due to the food, unhealthy lifestyle and other factors. It is the inability to conceive even after trying for a long time and the causes of getting affected by this condition can be due to several factors such as age related problems, egg quality issues, quantity problems, having problems with the fallopian tube and other cervical issues. In the majority of the cases, women get affected by this condition due to lifestyle and environmental factors like they having obesity, having the habit of smoking, getting exposed to chemicals and other factors which need a proper care and treatment by the Gynecologist doctor.

Let’s dig deep into the topic and know the most common causes of infertility in women:

1. Age:

As the woman ages, the chances of fertility naturally go down and that may start around the age of 34 and + age. This may happen as the number of eggs that a women have in her lifetime will decrease over time. 

2. Ovulatory Issues:

Some women may face issues related to egg production and the most common causes for these issue are:

- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS): It is the most common cause of the infertility problem in women which become the reason for irregular periods and ovulation issues. 

- Hormonal Imbalance: As women go through a lot of changes physically and emotionally during the growing cycle, the imbalance in hormones is common but that can also impact their fertility due to the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, or other endocrine disorders.

- Ovarian Functioning problems: Over the age of 40, women generally face lot of functioning problems related to the ovaries and which can be a reason for infertility. 

3. Fallopian Tube Related Issues:

Having a damaged or blocked fallopian tube can cause issues, and most of the time it prevents the egg from reaching the uterus. Due to this reason, the egg and sperm may not meet at the proper time. The Fallopian tube may have damage due to various reasons, such as:

- Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)

- STIs

- Previous pelvic issues

- Abdominal surgery

- Endometriosis

4. Problems related to Uterine and Cervical:

Other than the PCOS and the fallopian tube, there can be other health problems related to the uterus or cervix which cause problems in the process of fertilization, such as:

- Uterine Fibroids and Polyps

- Scarring in the uterus

- Structural abnormalities

5. Lifestyle Factors:

The major issues lie in the lifestyle of a woman, such as:

− Weight: Women coming to the weight women who are obese and those who are underweight are affected by the hormonal imbalance and leads to problems in the ovulation process. 

− Exercise: Even at times, women who are involved in heavy exercise may also face issues related to ovulation. 

− Smoking: Women who have an unhealthy lifestyle where smoking is a part of their regular lifestyle face a rapid fall in egg count, resulting in infertility in the long run. 

− Chemicals: At times, women are exposed to chemicals or pesticides either at their work place or having worked anywhere nearby will also impact their health negatively. 

6. Other Factors:

- Autoimmune disorders: Women who are having autoimmune disorders may face problem related to infertility or trouble conceiving.

- Chronic health problems: If a woman is having health problems like the STI’s, infections and others, then they would have infertility issues.
